hey cowboy!

I had posted the Crash Test Dummies one, but then I found R.E.M.'s Superman, and I'm kinda biased towards them as they were a very popular house band/club scene when I was in college - Athens, GA. Going to go check out your other link right now ...

I Never knew you went to Athens.
Ever run across "Widespread Panic"? I think that band started in Athens.

Hi goatman,

No I haven't heard of them, but I'm going to go and check out some youtubes of them. According to Wikipedia, they were 'rising' up in the ranks during the time period that I was preparing to leave college - '86/'87. I wasn't going to house parties or frat parties during my last two years of school.

But I did get to hang out with R.E.M. one night at a club in '88. By then they would play at local clubs under various pseudonyms such as The Mississippi Mud Puppies. My roommate was dating a lawyer who was good friends with Michael Stipe. It was one of those friend of a friend of a friend connections.

So yes, I had my 15 minutes of being a band groupie - danced with Michael to a couple of songs. But the joke was on me - I didn't recognize him and thought he was just some guy trying to hit on me - HAAAA! My roomie informed me of my faux pas on the walk home.

Sigh ... and to think of those missed opportunities ... ;)

I'd have to go with 3 Doors Down for the catchy tune . ..

I've always liked "Climb to Safety" by Widespread Panic -- they are a great jam band.

Three Doors Down was a favorite CD (back in the days of CD's) - I loved to open all the windows in the car, crank up the stereo and sing, quite horribly, along! R.E.M. scores a close second for its ability to take me back to time and place.

ps. I'll check out Climb to Safety.
