slain by beauty

I was slain by Beauty.
She grabbed my heart and
Shook me with unceasing and unflinching Love
Until the delusional mirror created from
My tendencies and protections
To see the world and self as
Broken, sinful and devoid of the sacred
Burst into a million shattered shards of dust.
I was slain by Beauty and then…
I became Her.

I'm confused. OK, situation normal, but confused.

Show us a picture of you and we will be 'slain by beauty.'

I would change "became" to "become" to denote a process, an ongoing breathsigh of air -- of becoming beauty again and again.

That would make it mine

Cosmo, what exactly are you confused about ?

Adullamite, ok you got your wish. She's in the sidebar. Photo taken in april by soubry.

goatman ~ I do like your interpretation muchly, though I fear the 'grammatical error' would bother me each time I read the poem with 'become' instead of 'became.'

Was thinking more along:

"Inside this new love , die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky.
Take an axe to the prison wall.
Escape.
Walk out like someone suddenly born into color.
Do it now.
You're covered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side. Die,
and be quiet
Quietness is the surest sign
that you've died.
Your old life was a frantic
running from silence.
The speechless full moon
comes out now."
