Red, how do you tell a girl that she needs better shoes? Is there a good way? or should one just keep his mouth shut?

Hmm, I'm not sure in what direction you are 'inspired.....?'

Ummm..... after 'reviewing' the situation, I'm here to tell you that you are stepping into a minefield when you begin to proffer shoe advice to a woman. You see, it's all about the EMOTIONAL connection a woman has to her shoes, and this dear lady has A LOT of connections to those shoes....I think you probably value that friendship quite a lot and might want to stay mum on the subject unless your opinion is asked for directly ....

Me? As an unbiased outsider, I would suggest that all the shoes pictured be sent to shoe heaven, and she liberate herself from her past, take out some serious cash and go have fun buying NEW SHOES!

Except for the boots from Durango. Funnily enough, I have a pair of Doc Martens that I purchased in Durango on a ski trip ..... oh about 14 years ago, and I will never let them go. Are they pretty? no. Do they make men drool? no. But my sweetheart lovingly oils them for me on each visit and they've carried me around to some really great places in the world.

So every woman is allowed one sentimental pair to keep. But only one ... out with the old and in with the new, I say !!

Hope this helps :)

ps. I'd make a case for keeping old shoes if they were classics ... like my classic chuck taylor converses ....but still, they need to be in good shape to survive a closet purge.

I'm thinking that I did probably buy a new pair of shoes to wear on my first trip to England to meet Soub... it was a pair of black Chuck Taylor Converse tennis shoes. I believe he has a photo of me in them, sitting at the base of a roman column in York.

Yep. Those shoes changed my life :)

Cosmo ???

Old Mother Hubbard
Went to the cupboard
To get her poor doggie a bone,
When she got there
The cupboard was bare
So the poor little doggie had none.

It continues on from there ...

Perhaps you are thinking of the old woman who lived in a shoe ???
