It's Story Time by Christopher Stott

"What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic."

Your best post yet!

(That's a quote from the Archaic Sumerian by the way)

"Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you"....and that mixes with your own interpretations/voice. Oh yeah, it's a wonderful thing!

I like to read this quote and insert 'blog' where 'book' is ... the internet and blogging world has allowed us to come together and share words, thoughts, ideas, emotions. Would our physical paths have ever crossed ?? Here we are, a loosely knit group of individuals, far-flung around the planet, talking, laughing, exchanging words. Now THAT is a wonderful thing as well.

Archaic Sumerian ?? whowhatwhenwhere .....please explain.

ummm....i guess inserting 'blog' for 'book' does not really work literally - but hopefully you understand the gist of my sentiment :)

Hi Mo!

Welcome to 'the gate'... I'm not sure you will find many words of wisdom here - it's a rather eclectic mish-mash of whatever strikes my interest at the moment. I do appreciate your visit and your comment! Come back any time :)
