How very coincidentalous.
Yesterday I was toying with posting that very same sonnet. I had a possibly apocryphal memory, of a mirror poem, in which William makes just the statements which here he refutes. But I couldn't find it, so I gave up.

This one is one of the 'dark lady' sonnets, referring to a mysterious lover. Mysterious because nobody's ever identified her, which is actually no surprise, as there's not much more than a thimbleful of information about shakespeare himself. Hardly any contemporary evidence about him exists.

If I was a poetically enabled personage, I'd write a kinder sonnet of you.

The gal seems ordinary, but loved anyway. Maybe the next sonnet can show her internal beauty in verse?

Soub ~ yes, there are moments when our minds align along the same path coincidentalously ...

you could write that sonnet, you know...

though my thoughts regarding sonnet 130 are not unkind - he's saying his love is more ordinary than the ordinary, yet she is loved far more than all the beautiful things he lists... not a bad way to be loved.

Hahhaahaa Max -

That line is written just for you. Only a small blanketed chihuahua can truly appreciate his mistress' reeking breath!

Funny, I had to go and check that it really was Will's work - it was almost a parody of a love sonnet.

Go Goatman, go! (slow hand clapping from the side-lines)

Now you've done it. That's all I will be thinking about now . . .

Whats a double dog anyway?
