Dang, doesn't every girl want someone to love them like that? Sigh. who would have thought this of Johnny Cash? Sweet.

He wrote many love 'notes' to June. They've all been compiled into a book by their son, called The House of Cash.

This is a great blog all of handwritten letters by various people:

check it out - it's very interesting!

I hate reading other peoples' mail -- seems intrusive and disrespectful somehow. But you are free to, anyone is free too.

I find old letters fascinating. The intimacy and familiarity of its words expose the writer. They are great missives of humanity. I am a true lover of letters though I write none nor receive any. It is the sad sad truth of our current 'instant gratification' technology. We want to know NOW, hit send and read.

Maybe you and I should become pen pals like in the days of yore and anticipate hand written letters ...

"Belles lettres" were they called?
Although not in this category necessarily ,I love reading the considered missives from the Civil war soldiers to their ladies and they to them.
A neighbor collects historical writings and I have seen this type of letter from her collection.

Oh that must be a fascinating collection to read !! Soldiers' letters home are always poignant in my mind.
