florence + machine: Shake It Out

Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play

And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn

And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around

Our love is questioned, such a mournful sound
Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues drawn
But it's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

And I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
'Cause I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
And given half the chance would I take any of it back
It's a fine romance but it's left me so undone
It's always darkest before the dawn

Oh whoa, oh whoa...

And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark aimed right at my throat
'Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me, yeah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

etc ....

It looks like plans for the wedding reception are coming along quite nicely. Oh, and that was a great song!

Soub lands.
We drive straight to the courthouse to get the marriage license.
Wait the mandated 2 days.
Get married at the JP's office (they call her Mrs. Bones) with my kids as witnesses.
Nice dinner.
Lemon cheesecake, mmmmmm.
No reception.
Soub and I retire to the Honeymoon Suite.
More lemon cheesecake, Mmmmm!
We won't be seen for days .... ;-P

But if you'd like to plan a big party for us, inviting all of our blogging friends, I'm sure we will appreciate your effort, muchly. Just don't invite the demons.

Thanks!

Woohoo!! Well done.
As to the song, another one high on my rotation list, we do have similar taste in music.

Hoping your demon has gone :-)

All the best to you both.

I'm helping one son deal with his demon...trouble is, that demon is his brother....

Hahaha, fjay!
Thanks.
And yes we do.
Medication tends to keep most of my demons at bay. But I'm hoping once Soub arrives, I'll be able to throw that devil off my back for good :)

Hi gz!!

So good to see you.
How is Scotland ???
Hmm ... tricky when it's 'in the family'.
Hope all is well with you!

gz - midges !! We call them 'chiggers' here. Pesky critters. Sending well wishes and positive job vibes your way. Your time in New Zealand sounded idyllic!

My how your life has changed these last few years ... doors closing, windows opening. So happy to see you happy.
