Haaahaaa. Actually I was more like the polar bear. A couple of young hired hands did all the hard stuff for us.

Sorry for the confusion!! I moved my daughter up to College Station yesterday. As there is no available housing for freshmen on campus, her dad signed her up for a room in a high rise built right across the street from the engineering building. She is on the 9th floor ......

So imagine: Floors 4 through 9 opened up yesterday for move ins. There are only 3 elevators. And people who had moved in the 2 days prior (floors 10 through 17) were also still moving things in ...

Tricky!! It wasn't hard getting an elevator to go up, but getting down was a different story.

No, guys. I've renewed my lease on my townhome for another year. However, this year my landlord decided to raise the rent based upon current 'comps' in rental property and the fact that this was investment property etc etc. I'm already paying more monthly than my 'Big House' mortgage payment was (pre-divorce.) I just don't have to deal with annual taxes by renting.

Landlord wanted to go $500 more per month. We agreed to $200 more a month for 12 months. Then I actually WILL have to move.

I am just waiting on Soub ..... !!!!

Ugh. What is that "no housing for freshman?" I would think that is exactly who they would have housing for!!

Our freshman move-in was a dream! (Sorry to rub it in) We pulled up and a bunch of kids emptied our van and then while we were sent away to park, they brought everything up to the room. I never lifted a finger!

Well...unless you count the packing and unpacking part.

I hate the thought of moving.

That's exactly what I want to know, Lin !! Especially when I see the acres and acres of manicured brown lawn surrounding the actual physical campus itself ---- why won't the university spend some money on building additional housing ??

Ohhh right .... they had to build a new stadium to go with their Heisman trophy winning quarterback ....

There you have it: football in the south.

Otherwise, our move in experience was quite similar - I backed my car up to an elevator; a couple of young men unloaded; captured an elevator; loaded it; unloaded again on the 9th floor - then one stayed with us and helped us carry it all to her apartment.

I should have gone to the park, too :)
